Jessie Belle VanGelder   was born Chapinville, NY November 13, 1887.  Jessie died January 15, 1946 Rochester, New York, at 58 years of age.

Entered into rest at her home, 520 Monroe Avenue, Tuesday January 15, 1946, Jessie Belle Camp.  She is survived by her husband, William C. Camp, three daughters, Mrs. Otto Owen of New Mexico, Mrs. Earl Elkie, and Mrs. Walter Grinell of Rochester, three sons, Raymond of Canandaigua, Paul SRV  US  Navy of Brooklyn, and Karl of Buffalo, two sisters, Mrs. Herbert Cole, and Mrs. Arthur Andrews of Chapin, NY, three brothers, Louis A. VanGelder of Canandaigua, Charles E. VanGelder of Chapin, and Pfc. David E. VanGelder of Clifton Springs, also 11 grand children.

Friends may call at L. Schauman's Sons, 600 Clinton Ave. N., where a short service will be held Thursday evening. Services at the home of her sister, Mrs. Mary Cole, Chapin, NY on Friday at 3 PM. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canandaigua.

                                She married William August Christov Czarnowsky Camp Rochester, New York, December 12, 1905.

CZARNOWSKYVANGELDER     At Rochester, December 12, 1905, William Czarnowsky and Miss Jessie B. VanGelder, both of Rochester, formerly of Canandaigua.   William was born December 23, 1882.  William was the son of Charles Czarnowsky and Pauline .  William died July 20, 1955 Rochester, New York, at 72 years of age.

                    At 24 years of age William became the father of Raymond George Czarnowsky Camp Canandaigua, New York, January 26, 1907.

David Emerson VanGelder   was born Canandaigua, New York April 22, 1925.

BIRTHS     VANGELDER       At Canandaigua, April 22, 1925, to Mr. and Mrs. George Vangelder, a son. 

B. Emerson4 VanGelder was born April 07, 1865.  B. died March 1963 at 97 years of age.  His body was interred 1963 Wilmington, Delaware. 

                   He married Cornelia B. Andrews Hopewell, New York, March 12, 1889.  Record number 50 at Hopewell Town Clerk Cornelia was born 1868.  Cornelia was the daughter of Heman Andrews and Esther Dey Johnson .  Cornelia died December 03, 1915 Canandaigua, New York, at 47 years of age.[i]   [i]. Death occurred at the home of her brother Arthur Andrews after a lingering illness at age 47 years.

VANGELDER -    The death of Cornelia B. Andrews, wife of B. Emerson VanGelder, of Wilmington, Del., occurred at 3 o'clock yesterday morning at the home of her brother, Arthur Andrews, town of Canandaigua, after a lingering illness, aged 47 years.

She leaves besides he husband, one daughter, Mrs. Mae Boettger, of Wilmington, Del., two grandchildren, and mother, Mrs. E. D. Andrews, two brothers, Arthur Andrews, of Canandaigua, and Lewis Andrews, of San Francisco, Cal., one sister, Mrs. Anna Kotteker, of Chapin. The remains were taken last evening to Wilmington for interment.

DIED    VANGELDER  At Canandaigua, Dec. 2, 1915, Mrs. Cornelia B. Andrews VanGelder, wife of B. Emerson VanGelder, aged 47 years. Interment at Wilmington, Del.  

        At 25 years of age B. became the father of Esther Mae VanGelder Chapin, New York, August 28, 1890.  Ontario County Times, April 24, 1895.

CHAPINVILLE -   Emerson VanGelder, who has been employed for several months past in Wilmington, Del., has returned home, and is now in the employ of the Shortsville Wheel Company.

RUSHVILLE -  Emerson VanGelder, of Wilmington, Delaware, is visiting his cousin, J. A. Eggleston. Mr. VanGelder was partly brought up by Mr. Eggleston and prides himself on the fact that he has taken many a ride on his cousin's shoulder. 

Charlie Elmer5 VanGelder was born Canandaigua, New York September 21, 1889.  Charlie died April 25, 1953 at 63 years of age.

Charles VanGelder, 63, of Chapin, lifelong resident of Ontario County, died Saturday, April 25, 1953, after a short illness.  He was born September 21, 1889, in Canandaigua, son of the late George and Elizabeth Wheatley VanGelder.

 He was  a member of Chapin Methodist Church. Survivors include his stepmother, Mrs. Fred Mackey of Middlesex, four daughters, Mrs. Walter Wright of Manchester, Mrs. Clarence Chappell, and Mrs. Andrew Burt, both of Canandaigua, and Mrs. Robert Burgess of Chapin, five sons, George A. of Brockport, Charles A. of Palmyra, Philip E. of Buffalo, Fred M. of Chapin, and Francis A. of Victor, 33 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two brothers Lewis A. of Canandaigua, and David of Clifton Springs, two sisters, Mrs. Arthur Andrews of Canandaigua and Mrs. Herbert Cole of Chapin, and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the home in Chapin today.  Services there tomorrow, with Rev. Stephen S. Pratt, retired Methodist Minister, officiating. Burial in Pioneer Cemetery, Clifton Springs. His body was interred 1953 Manchester, New York, Pioneers Cemetery.  

                             He married Christine Mary Dobbler Canandaigua, New York, March 03, 1913.  Record held at Ontario County Archives. Number 436. He was 23 and she was 18 years 10 mos. old.  Witnesses were Paul Faller and Hazel Cloyes.

 Mary VanGelder   was born Canandaigua, New York October 31, 1912. She married George S. Lincoln Stanley, NY, June 19, 1931.[ii] [ii]. Ontario County Archives Hopewell, NY, record number 1755. Lists witnesses as Charles Northrop and George VanGelder.; and Copies of the Marriage License number 164, and the Marriage Certificate can be found on PG 3D and PG 3E in the book, A Tree Trunk.

                                George was born East Bloomfield, New York October 13, 1909.  George is the son of Fred Lincoln and Gertrude Ely .  At 23 years of age George became the father of Son Lincoln Canandaigua, New York, May 28, 1933.

Fred M. VanGelder was born Canandaigua, New York April 08, 1921.  Fred died January 13, 1999 Canandaigua, New York, at 77 years of age.

CHAPIN Fred M. VanGelder, age 77, of Chapin Rd., Canandaigua, passed away at FF Thompson Hospital on Wednesday, January 13, 1999. Friends may call at R A Patrick Funeral Home in Clifton Springs today. Funeral will be Saturday, and burial at the convenience of the family in Pioneers Cemetery.

Fred was born April 8, 1921 in Canandaigua, NY, the son of Charles and Christine VanGelder, and had lived in the area all his life.  He served in the US Army during World War II and was a member of the Shortsville American Legion Post.  Fred retired from G W Lisk, Clifton Springs, in 1983 and had worked at the P and C Market in Canandaigua.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Gertrude VanGelder, one son, Jerry VanGelder of Geneva, two daughters, Gloria Robert McAvoy of Farmington, and Mary Lou Chilbert of Geneva, five grandchildren, four sisters, Lucy Wright of Shortsville, Helen Chappell Hayes of Canandaigua, Betty Andy Burt of Cheshire, and Shirley Robert Burgess of Bath, and a brother, Phillip VanGelder of Rochester. He was predeceased by three brothers. He married Mary Gertrude

Jay Alvin5 VanGelder was born Cheshire, NY November 02, 1891.  Jay died June 08, 1943 Shortsville, New York, at 51 years of age.

  DIED -  VANGELDER  At Shortsville, June 8, 1943 Jay Alvin VanGelder age 51. His body was interred 1943 Canandaigua, New York, Woodlawn Cemetery.  

                  He married Eva Viola Baird Chapin, New York, August 03, 1915.  Eva was born Reedsville, Penn. March 03, 1893.  Eva was the daughter of A. G. Baird and Ada Henniger .  Eva died April 17, 1957 Canandaigua, New York, at 64 years of age.

                            Mrs. VanGelder Rites Are Held

A funeral service was held for Mrs. Eva B. VanGelder, 65, Clifton Road, at the Kennedy funeral chapel with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.  Mrs. VanGelder died at Thompson Memorial Hospital Wednesday morning, April 17, 1957 after a long illness. She was born March 5, 1892, in Reedsville, Pa., a daughter of Levi and Bertha Oswald Baird.

She had been a resident of this area since 1912.  She was the widow of Jay A. VanGelder who died in 1943.  She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Albert Lunt, Niagara Falls, Ontario, Mrs. Roger Lord, of Lockport, three sons, Jay W., Harry H., both of Stanley Road, and Richard, of Star Lake, 15 grandchildren, a brother, Harry R. Baird, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, three sisters, Mrs. Charles B. Mitchell, Pittsburgh, Pa., and Mrs. Ruth Walton, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.

               Eva became the mother of Margaret A. VanGelder 1920.  At 30 years of age Eva became the mother of Richard Lee VanGelder May 29, 1923.  At 31 years of age Eva became the mother of Walter C. VanGelder Canandaigua, New York, February 10, 1925.  At 35 years of age Eva became the mother of Thelma Jessie VanGelder March 22, 1928. 

              At 24 years of age Jay became the father of Jay W. VanGelder March 03,1916.  At 26 years of age Jay became the father of Harry Herbert VanGelder Canandaigua, New York, November 02, 1917.  Information found on SSDI.
