At the Methodist Episcopal church, in Chapinville, on Sunday evening, January 26th, 1879, by the Rev. L. T. Hawkins, Mr. George B. VanGelder and Miss Libbie Wheatley.

   BIRTHS           VANGELDER   At Canandaigua, April 22, 1925, to Mr. and Mrs. George Vangelder, a son. 

Richard Smith Wheatley was born Penn. January 22, 1858.  Pennsylvania is given as birthplace in the 1900 Hopewell, NY census. Canandaigua is given as birthplace in the death record, and the newspaper stated that he was born in Manchester. Richard died May 25,1932 Canandaigua, New York, at approximately 74 years of age.[i]    Died at Thompson Memorial Hospital, Canandaigua, NY.    [i]. Canandaigua City clerk office record number 78 on Page 248, states that he was divorced, and would be buried in Manchester Cemetery. His mother's name is given as Mary A. Wood.

                                          SHORTSVILLE    RICHARD  WHEATLEY

The funeral of Richard S. Wheatley was held at the home of his niece, Mrs. Herbert Cole, on the Orleans Road, Friday.  Rev. Ernest Warren, pastor of the Shortsville M. E. church officiated.  Burial was made in Manchester cemetery.  Mr. Wheatley died on Wednesday afternoon in the Thompson Memorial Hospital in Canandaigua, aged 74 years.

He was born January 22, 1858, in Manchester, NY, a son of William and Mary A. Wood Wheatley.  The survivors are a half brother, Albert Wheatley of Shortsville, Mrs. Hattie Wolcott of Syracuse, Mrs. Emily Larner and Mrs. Julia Schlecht of Manchester, and several nieces and nephews.

He married Rose A. Wilcox Gorham, New York, March 04, 1886.  Record number 39 at Gorham, New York. Her name is given as Mary Rose Weluse.

 MARRIED     WHEATLEY - WILCOX   At the residence of the officiating clergyman, Rev. Geo Craig, at Reed's Corners, March 4, 1886, Richard S. Wheatley, of Manchester, and Rose A. Wilcox, of Farmington. 

                                        Rose was born Farmington, New York May 1867.  Rose was the daughter of Eliphas Wilcox and Martha J. .  She married 2nd  Frederick E. Claudius .  Rose died September 28, 1938 Rochester, New York, at 71 years of age.

CLAUDIUS Mrs. Belle A. Claudius formerly of Canandaigua, died at her home in Rochester September 28th. She leaves her husband Frederick E. Claudius, two step-sons, Edgar J. and Charles L. Claudius of Canandaigua, also several grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday. The Rev. Whitney S K Yeaple officiating, and burial was made in West Avenue Cemetery in Canandaigua. 

 Mary B. Wheatley was born November 10, 1867.  Mary died April 11, 1937 at 69 years of age.

 DIED DAMOND -  At Shortsville, April 11, 1937, Mrs. Mary Damond. Her body was interred 1937 Manchester, New York, Pioneer Cemetery.  

                   She married Daniel J. Damond 1902. Daniel was born in Fitchburg, Mass. 1873.  Daniel was the son of Mr. Damond and Mrs. Damond .  Daniel died February 07, 1926 Shortsville, New York, at 52 years of age.  (her name appears on stone with Daniel in Brookside Ceme.)

                                         ONTARIO COUNTY TIMES Wednesday February 17, 1926

 Daniel J. Damond died at his home about one half mile notheast of this village on the Shortsville Clifton Springs Road on Monday morning, aged 52 years. He was born in Fitchburg, Mass. The only survivor was his wife, Mrs. Mary Damond.

The funeral was held from his late home on Wednesday. Rev. Swarthout of the Manchester Baptist church conducted the service. Remains were placed in the vault at Brookside Cemetery. 

Harriett Lavina Wheatley   was born May 05, 1873.  Harriett died October 18, 1944 Syracuse, New York, at 71 years of age.  Her body was interred 1944 Syracuse, New York, Morningside Cemetery.  She married twice.    

                            She married Thomas James Jr. Hornsby Shortsville, New York, March 05, 1890.

Married on Wednesday at the residence of Mr. W. A. Rose in this vicinity, by Rev. J. C. Lenhart, Mr. Thomas Hornsby Jr., of Palmyra, and Miss Hattie Wheatley of Shortsville. We acknowledge the receipt of a box of wedding cake from the parents of the bride, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Wheatley, for which we tender thanks.

 HORNSBY  - WHEATLY    Manchester, March 5, 1890, by Rev. J. C. Lenhart, Thomas Hornsby Jr., of Palmyra, and Hattie Wheatly, of Shortsville.   

                           Thomas J. Hornsby Jr. was born in Palmyra, New York December 21, 1862.  Thomas was the son of Thomas

   Albert Wheatley was born May 05, 1873.  Albert died July 02, 1949 Clifton Springs, New York, at 76 years of age.

Emily Wheatley   was born 1875.  Emily died December 28, 1936 Clifton Springs, New York, at 61 years of age.  She married Edgar Walter Larner in Palmyra, New York, March 19, 1892.

   Dora A. Wheatley   was born Manchester, New York March 1883.  Dora died April 27, 1927 Clifton Springs, New York, at 44 years of age.

Mrs. David Schlecht died at the Sanitarium in Clifton Springs Wednesday night, April 27, aged forty four years. She was a daughter of the late William and Sarah Maybee Wheatley, and was born in the town of Manchester in 1883.

She is survived by her husband, David Schlecht, two daughters and two sons, Mrs. Dibble of Canandaigua, Miss Thelma Schlecht, Elmer and Clifford Schlecht, all of Shortsville, four sisters, Mrs. Harriet Wolcott of Manchester, Mrs. William Larner and Mrs. John Schlecht of Manchester Center, and Mrs. Mame Daiman of Shortsville, one brother, Albert Wheatley of Shorstville, and one half brother, Richard Wheatley of Hopewell. The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon from the Baptist church in Manchester. 

Julia E. Wheatley   was born March 09, 1887.  Julia died May 01, 1960 Canandaigua, New York, at 73 years of age.

                        MANCHESTER -   Mrs. John Schlecht 

Mrs. Juliet Schlecht, 70, a native and lifelong resident Manchester, died Sunday in Thompson Hospital, Canandaigua, following a long illness.  She was born March 19, 1887, the daughter of the late William and Sarah Wheatley.  She married John Schlecht in 1905.  She was a member of the Methodist and Ondalinda Rebekah Lodge.

She is survived by her husband, three sons, Glen of Manchester, Harry of Chandler, Ariz., and Ralph of Westerly, RI., four grandchildren, three great grandchildren. Interment in Pioneer Cemetery.

Mr. John S. Schlecht and Miss Julia Wheatley were united in marriage by the Rev. S. S. Ferris at the Presbyterian parsonage on Wednesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. S. are young people of much promise, and have the best wishes of many friends for their future happiness and success.

                                        John was born in Fairville, New York September 23, 1883.  John was the son of Jacob Schlecht and Magdalena Ruele .  John died July 04, 1960 Canandaigua, New York, at 76 years of age.

John  Schlecht, 76, of North Main Street, Manchester, died Monday in Thompson Memorial Hospital, Canandaigua, NY, following a long illness.  His wife, the former Miss Julia Wheatley of Shortsville, whom he married in March 1905, died May 1, 1960.

He is survived by three sons, Glen of Manchester, Harry of Chandler, Ariz, and Ralph of Westerly, RI, four great grandchildren, three great grandchildren, four sisters, Mrs. Emma Crowell, Buffalo, Mrs. Una Longrod, and Mrs. Anna Hildreth, both of Lyons, and a sister in Florida, also several nieces and nephews. Interment in Pioneer Cemetery, Shortsville Road.
