Ruth W. Roerig
Malta -- Ruth W. Roerig of the town of Malta, passed away on December 23, 2004, at the age of 80. She was the widow of August Roerig of Malta.
Her life accomplishments are remarkable. She retired as the vice president of the Ballston Spa National Bank. She was the first woman president of the American Institute of Banking. She presently was the Town Historian of Malta. She was a talented writer who authored several books on local history. She was a member of the Malta Planning Board, the DAR and vice president of the East Line Union Cemetery Committee.
She is survived by her three children, Christie Nigro, Diane Blanche, and Larry Blanch and her six grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jennifer Blanche and Carrie, Olivia, Philip and Matthew Nigro.
Funeral services will be held Monday, 10 a.m. from the Ballston Spa United Methodist Church. Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 25 Hyde Blvd., Ballston Spa.
