Canandaiguan Dies after Brief Illness - Canandaigua - May 27 - Mrs. Christine VanGelder, 55, died this morning in Thompson Memorial hospital, here after a two day illness.  Funeral will be held Monday at 3:30 pm in the family home in Chapin.  Rev. Stephen S. Pratt, retired Methodist minister, will officiate.  Burial will be in Pioneer cemetery on the Clifton road. 

Mrs. VanGelder was born in South Bend, Ind., the daughter of Joseph and Lucy VanGedler (?) Dubbler, formerly of Belgium. She had been a resident of Chapin for 25 years.  

Survivors are her husband, Charles E. VanGelder; five daughters, Mrs. Emerson Gelding of Rochester, Mrs. Walter Wright, of Phelps, Mrs. Clarence Chappell and Mrs. Andrew Burg of Canandaigua and Shirley VanGelder of Chapin; five sons: George A. of Lockport, Charles A., of Palmyra, Philip E. & Fred M. of Chapin, and Francis A., of Victor; two sisters, Mrs. Alphonse Hautekeete and Mrs. Amy Reynolds of Rochester; one brother, Philip of Littleville and 22 grandchildren.
